SAND FREE is a special blend of solvents that softens ABS, PVC and other similar plastics, promoting the adhesion of COLOR COAT. Features: Wet on wet application saves time Ready to spray PREPARATION: 1. Clean first with 39362 SEM SOAP and a gray scuff pad. 2. Rinse with water and dry. If contamination still exists, water will bead on the surface. Repeat this step until beading no longer occurs. 3. Clean with 38353 PLASTIC/LEATHER PREP. NOTE : If the type of plastic is unknown, place a drop of acetone on the back of the plastic and rub it with your finger. If the plastic smears and melts, use 3836( ) as your adhesion promoter. If the acetone does not have an effect on the plastic, use 39863 PLASTIC ADHESION PROMOTER or 77723 XXX ADHESION PROMOTER. APPLICATION : Air pressure (38364): HVLP equipment - 8-10 psi at the cap Non-HVLP equipment - 20-25 psi Coats: One medium wet coat Apply the first coat of COLOR COAT while 3836( ) is still wet. The first coat of color should be applied lightly as heavy coats could cause sags or runs. As the 3836( ) evaporates, the COLOR COAT is drawn into the surface creating excellent adhesion. After the first coat of paint is dry, follow normal painting procedures. STORAGE : 3836( ) SAND FREE should be stored in a cool dry place with adequate ventilation away from heat, sparks and flames. The shelf life for 38363 is 5 years when stored under normal conditions, while the shelf life for 38364 is unlimited.
