1. Always apply over a 2-part epoxy automotive primer when applying to metal. Applying over bare metal will not provide enough corrosion protection, and may affect ability of coating to stick to the substrate. Acid etching primer is not recommended; if used, be sure to allow to fully cure before applying coating as residual acid can weaken the bond. Applying over existing paint is not recommended; the solvents in the coating can react with some paint systems.
2. Clean and dry surface with soap and water, then with 3M™ General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner, PN 08984.
3. Shake can thoroughly for 1 minute after the agitator ball is initially heard.
4. Use a flathead screwdriver to punch out the top seal, and insert a 3M™ No Cleanup Nozzle (replacement PN 08966).
5. Press down until nozzle snaps securely into place. Engage 3M™ No Cleanup Applicator Gun, PN 08801.
6. Connect to air line and spray at pressure indicated on the can.
7. Apply in relatively light coats, allowing the solvent to evaporate somewhat between coats. Build to desired thickness.
8. Dry and paint time is typically 2 hours at room temperature. Thicker applications may take longer to dry.
9. Best if painted within 24 hours of application. After 24 hours, scuff lightly to improve adhesion of paint.
